The Access Improvements in Poole Park are continuing. The section of Whitecliff Road within the park has been closed since 13th October and was due to re-open this week but owing to the recent poor weather and some work taking longer than expected we now hope that the Whitecliff Road junction should re-open by the 21st November.

From the 5th November the East Gate vehicle entrance nearest the Civic Centre will be closed to vehicles to allow the improvements on the entrance from Parkstone Road to take place. This closure is likely to be in place for at least two full weeks fand means the only entrance and exit open will be at the Seldown Lodge end of the park during this time.

In addition there will be a period of approximately 3 days when there will be no access for vehicles beyond the Whitecliff junction to the East end of the parks; this is to allow the breaking out of existing speed ramps and construction of new kerbs across the road. All pedestrian routes will be open or will have local diversions in place during the works.

Recently new areas of Purbeck stone paving have been laid to the front of East Gate Lodge and at the steps to the water fountain. The new arrangement at the Middle Gate area is underway with the new kerb lines showing the reduced areas of tarmac and improved pedestrian footways. The new enlarged verges will have semi-mature trees planted within them to compliment the traditional line of trees along the road in the grass verge.
