Thank you to everyone who came along to the Poole Park Life Celebration Day last Thursday. There were thousands of people, loads of free and low cost activities by a wide range of providers – as always Jamie Jigsaw was hugely popular, along with the face painting, and bungee trampolines.

Our own Poole Park Life stand was really busy all day providing arts and craft activities, including clay fishes from the entrance brick pier moulds, alongside summaries of the works undertaken and new activity cards and Tree Trail leaflets. The latter can be picked up for free from the Park Kiosk (opposite Rockley water sports) when it is open and is being hired, as well as being made available online soon, all part of the project legacy.

Away from the cricket pitch activity, local artists provided a different mood and points of interest for all, including a poet using one of the leaning trees, use of the Plant Collector’s garden by a clarinettist alongside artistic installations and creation of clay fish sculptures and Edwardian bird spotting!

Youth yoga, the Poole branch of Dorset Wildlife Trust, Diverse Abilities, Rockley Watersports, Poole Park Model yacht club, Poole Park Bowls Club, U3A with a range of activities and many more!!

The event would not have been possible without a very trusty band of volunteers to lift and lower gazebos, ferry equipment, bring tea and coffee, collect memories of the park and generally be on hand with a smile and a lot of goodwill – thank you to everyone who helped out.

  • We would love for these events to continue beyond the funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, if you think you would like to understand more please get in touch.

The Poole Park Life project is nearing completion and we would be very grateful for any public feedback on this link. Thanks for reading.
