On Wednesday 10th April 2019 we celebrated the recent improvements to the lakes and lagoon in Poole Park and gave park users the opportunity to get involved with some planting and find out more detail about the work.
Birds of Poole Harbour were on hand to tell people about the wonderful wading birds that have made the lagoon their home over the last few months, as well us using their scope to pick out birds on the day. The Poole group of Dorset Wildlife Trust were also on hand to talk local natural history and had activities for young people. Our contractor Ebsford environmental were also on hand to talk through the work and were giving away freebies.
The BCP Environmental Development team were planting shrubs with the public alongside the regular park volunteers, over 250 Tamarisk shrubs were planted and mulched alongside the road towards Whitecliff entrance. Examples of some of the wildlife from the lakes and lagoon were on show as well as answering lots of questions on the works, the wildlife and the benefits it should all bring. We will add the displays to the website soon. Thanks to all those who came along, planted shrubs, painted a pebble and took an interest.
