This Week. <\/strong>The new car park layout at Westfield is coming together with the footpath kerbs and edgings all in and filled with stone, so now just waiting for the surfacing. Top soil is being spread out behind the paths to marry in with the existing grass.<\/p>\n

Tree pits all along the road have been dug out and, as described in last week’s update, crates put under the footway to allow the roots to spread and move. The process is shown below in the photos: 1) following excavation of a pit 1.8m x 2m a membrane goes in the bottom which the crates sit on top of, 2) self-compacting stone is filled down the sides behind a mesh, with tree soil then filled in the crates, 3) the tree anchor system which holds down the trees root ball is put in ready for the tree to be planted in the winter, 4) the crates and planting area are topped up with soil, sides filled with more stone, a stake marks the position for the tree. The crates are then covered over with membrane to allow for the construction of the path on top.<\/p>\n

Also this week, work on the front of Seldown Lodge has started where a new Purbeck stone path will be installed and access to the commemorative plaque created (also see feature image at the top of the page<\/em>)<\/p>\n
