We are pleased to be working with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aggregate.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aggregate Industries Ltd<\/a> on this project who will act as principle contractor.<\/p>\n<p>The first initial phase of work is the removal of selected trees along the carriage drive that are either in decline or diseased with a limited remaining lifespan. The trees have had on-going checks for bat roosts and will also be checked for nesting birds prior to any works starting. 33 trees in total will be removed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.treesurgerydorset.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Upton Specialist Tree Services<\/a> and more detail on these tree works can be read in <a href=\"https:\/\/pooleprojects.net\/pooleparklife\/poole-park-access-works-tree-planting-and-removal-2\/\">this<\/a> News Update.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Access Theme work will:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>make the park more accessible, with friendlier crossing points for pedestrians<\/li>\n<li>slow vehicles down making it harder to drive through the park<\/li>\n<li>remove highway features like the roundabout and reduce the amount of tarmac surface<\/li>\n<li>provide new lighting all the way along the carriage drive and from the cricket pavilion to copse close.<\/li>\n<li>install new drainage and resurface roads and paths to prevent local flooding issues<\/li>\n<li>remove 32 trees and plant 51 new trees along the drive and nearby areas.<\/li>\n<li>resurface the southern half of the cycle track and improve the drainage around the cricket pitch to the freshwater ponds<\/li>\n<li>resurface access to the Lodges<\/li>\n<li>remove infrastructure such as metal knee-rails and open up garden spaces for public use with new benches.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There will be regular communication with all stakeholders through the works. Park users will be kept informed through banners that are being installed in Poole Park that explain the works and these are also available to view on the <a href=\"https:\/\/pooleprojects.net\/pooleparklife\/project-themes\/access\/\">Access 2020<\/a> page. There will also be regular blog posts and information available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/PooleParks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">facebook<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/pooleparklife?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">twitter<\/a> accounts.
