Poole in Bloom 2022 Competition

It’s time to get your gardens, patios and pots competition-ready!

Welcome! The Poole in Bloom competition seeks to celebrate all the hard work that local community groups, businesses, and households put in to make Poole a beautiful place to live.

We have a number of classes open for submission and you are invited to enter as many as you wish, plus we have classes open to all – including Special Trees, Environmentally Friendly Spaces, Sensory Gardens.

This year there’s a Queen’s Jubilee Celebration Garden competition too!

Enter by 24th June

Please download the Entry Form at the bottom of this page for full details; entries to be received by post on or before Friday 24th June. Classes will be judged in July by visiting judges.

Residential Classes:

  • Hanging basket(s) and/or Window Boxes
  • Front Patio must be at ground level and/or Container Garden
  • Balcony Display must not be ground level
  • Communal Grounds blocks of flats etc.
  • Mobile Homes private gardens only
  • Small Front Garden not exceeding 100m²
  • Large Front Garden larger than 100m²
  • Back Garden not exceeding 100m²
  • Back Garden larger than 100m²

Commercial & Public Classes:

  • Commercial Small Public Spaces Arcades, Libraries, Shopping Centres, Bars, Inns, Public Houses, Cafés
  • Commercial Large Public Spaces Arcades, Libraries, Shopping Centres, Bars, Inns, Public Houses, Cafés
  • Loving Care Homes Nursing / Rest Homes
  • Colleges and Places of Learning
  • Bowling Clubs and Sports Facilities
  • Places of Worship
  • Commercial Baskets / Containers
  • Small Hotel / B&B under 20 beds
  • Large Hotel 20 or more beds

The classes below are for Commercial and Residential entries:

Special Trees – by photo

Please take  a seasonal photo of the tree looking its best for judging in this class

  • Small Ornamental and/or Flowering tree
  • Tree Contributing to Biodiversity – Good for bees or provider of habitat or food source for bats, birds or mammals.
  • Champion Tree – Notable for its sheer size, age or heritage value, or an example of an uncommon species.

Also

  • Queen’s Jubilee Celebration Garden
  • Environmentally friendly spaces
  • Sensory Gardens – Gardens created which are accessible and encompass the five senses – sight, hearing, touch, smell, taste.

Please note

  • You can enter as many classes as you wish, plus the Special Trees, Queen’s Jubilee Celebration Garden, Environmentally Friendly Spaces and Sensory Gardens competitions
  • No multiple entries will be accepted in any one class
  • No late entries will be accepted
  • Incomplete or illegible entry forms will be declared void.

A presentation evening will take place at Compton Acres, Canford Cliffs at 7.00pm on Wednesday 19th October
