On April 27th and 28th 2019 Poole Enviroteers will once again be taking part in this years Great Dorset Beach Clean organised by Litter Free Coast and Sea. We have been taking part in this campaign for several years now and this year we will be returning to the commonly littered areas of Holes Bay and Ham Common.

On Saturday 27th April we will be based down on Holes Bay, opposite McDonalds, with all the litter picking equipment you could ever need! When we last carried out a litter pick on Holes Bay at the end of September in 2018 we had twenty volunteers come along and walk around the whole of Holes Bay, collecting bags upon bags of litter as well as  tent, several metal poles and bike parts, on top of sheet metal. This April we want a focus on recording what we are collecting. We know that Holes Bay is a particularly poor area for litter, with litter picking constantly needed along the A350, and as such we want to start to understand what types of litter are being dropped and what can be done to try and combat this. We will be down by Holes Bay from 8:30pm-11pm so do come along!

On Sunday the 28th our partners Poole Heathlands will also be running a litter pick as part of the Great Dorset Beach Clean on Ham Common by Lake Pier and on the beach. They will also be lending out litter picking equipment, survey forms and maybe a cup of tea. They will also be down on Ham Common from 9am.

We really hope this can be another great example of the residents of Poole continue to strive to improve their local environments, and we hope to use this litter pick weekend to supercharge our aims of combatting litter in Poole. For now, feel free to read more about the weekend here: http://www.litterfreecoastandsea.co.uk/litter-free-coast-and-sea-week/.
