As we await for the proper heat and sun of Spring and Summer to arrive we wanted to begin promoting some amazing volunteer opportunities that are perfect to take part in during the months coming. We have listed our top four ways to get out and volunteer this year:

The Friends of Coy Pond

Every Tuesday of the year, the ‘Friends of Coy Pond’ continue their incredible work on the stunning areas of Coy Pond, including the general garden areas, rockery, and pond improvements. This is a stunning area to spend a morning the the group even provide bacon sandwiches and tea for a mid-morning snack and is a great opportunity to take action whilst enjoying a lovely group volunteering activity. This also forms the top part of the Bournemouth Gardens route so you can take a beautiful walk through the upper, middle and lower gardens after volunteering.

Oakdale Library Gardens

Every Monday of the year, a volunteer group continue incredible work at the Oakdale Library where they have created a serene bookery, children’s garden, commemorative garden and adventure trail. This is only a small volunteer group, so perfect for anyone who has never volunteered before. Volunteer to take action and enjoy a lovely group volunteer activity, which incorporates general maintenance, gardening and opportunities to interact with the public, and why not pop in to the library afterwards!

Pinecliff Sunken Gardens

Every Thursday of the year, a volunteer group visits the Pinecliff Sunken Gardens to help continue in making this space a truly beautiful and unique area, with stunning views across the coast and some amazing bits of planting. Volunteer to take action and enjoy a lovely group volunteer activity, which incorporates general maintenance, gardening, opportunities to chat with the public as well as carry out potential art projects. A perfect group and place to spend a couple of hours a week taking action to make a beautiful area for wildlife and people alike.

Cafe at the Pavilion in Alexandra Park

This opportunity is based at The Cafe at the Pavilion based in Alexandra Park, Penn Hill. This opportunity includes making drinks for customers, providing great customer service and helping to keep the cafe looking clean and welcoming. The cafe is based in the heart of the park and makes use of a great bowling green area to host events. For many years the pavilion was left practically empty but now a new cafe is bringing new life to it and a new place to have coffee in Penn Hill. This opportunity is great for anyone looking to get back in to work or looking for something to keep them busy, whilst also being a great opportunity for young people to put on their CV’s.
