The play areas is inspected on a daily basis by our Grounds Maintenance Contractors, Continental Landscapes - as are all play areas in Poole.

The main play area was open for use June 2009 and includes the "Challenger" space for the over 12's - a Skysurf and climbing poles. A new rebound wall was then installed in July.

Challenge & Adventure

This has been a project to completely refurbish and extend the play facilities at Hamworthy Park for children and young people 9 yrs and older. It follows the refurbishment of the toddler play area in 2007.

The project was designed in conjunction with pupils from Carter Community College, Hamworthy Middle School and Turlin Moor Community School, and other park users.

There are two play spaces:

Area 1 (Adventure) within the fenced play area features an exciting range of equipment, much of it unique in Poole. A new Hexagonal Swing caters for 6 users at any one time, and the ever popular Buddy Swing is also designed for shared use. Top of young people's wish list was an Aerial Cableway, and one has been included in the design - the first in Poole. An Ixo multi play unit, Rodeo Board, Aeroskate, Gyro Spiral and Double Perch and, in August, a surprise addition - using the balance of the budget contingency we bought & installed a Supernova in the space once taken by the old roundabout.

Area 2 (Challenger) is outside the fenced area and has been designed especially for a slightly older age group (12 years+) looking for that extra physical challenge. It features the very exciting rotating Skysurf set in a safe 'fall zone' of sand, and two climbing poles.

In July a stile was installed (replacing a fence panel) giving quicker access between the two play areas.
